Fun Trip To The
Arizona White Mountains
Visiting the Arizona White Mountains, located in the central eastern region of Arizona is the most lushly forested area in Arizona boasting a large number of mountain lakes and streams. With elevations ranging from about 6,500 to about 9,500 feet, temperatures generally run between 25 to 30 degrees cooler than the Phoenix and Scottsdale area.
The White Mountains of Arizona which includes the towns of Show Low, Pinetop Lakeside, Greer, Springerville, Taylor, Alpine and other small communities, is four season territory. It is cool and refreshing during spring and summer, colorful in autumn and iwhen winter comes, the White Mountains become just that.....white.
This is outdoor adventure country. Camping, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, golfing, cross-country skiing and downhill snow skiing at the Sunrise Park Resort. You'll find excellent dining and if the urge arises, casino gambling is nearby at the Native American owned Hon-Dah Casino.
Depending upon your origination point in Greater Phoenix and your destination at the White Mountains, it is about a four to four and one-half drive. It's a bit too far as a day trip, but you will not be disappointed. It is simply spectacular. If you need lodging, consider Show Low Hotels, Pinetop Hotels, White Mountains Cabin Rentals or a plethora of romantic bed and breakfasts.
