Four Great Attractions in Flagstaff

Are you looking for a great family vacation destination? This article offers great travel advice for travelers planning a trip to Arizona. In some ways, Flagstaff area is unlike other parts of the country because of the unique topography and history. An interesting cultural city, Flagstaff has unique attractions that any traveler should not miss. These attractions are presented in a two-day itinerary.
On The First Day.
Pack a good supply of water and wear sturdy shoes. Get some much-needed exercise and fresh air visiting the first two
locations. The first stop is the Arboretum at Flagstaff. Here you can discover a vast collection of wildflowers found in the high country. Explore a 200-acre botanical garden at 7,150 feet, and don't forget the camera. There are also fabulous vistas of the San Francisco Peaks.
The second stop is the Lowell Observatory, established by Percival Lowell in 1894. You can see his original telescope from 1896 and a telescope that presented Pluto to the human eye for the first time in 1930. The astronomers at this facility also recently discovered a new planet that is the biggest planet orbiting around another star. Stop in to find out what exciting things have taken place at this important observatory.
On The Second Day.
You also need your walking shoes for a whirlwind visit to two national monuments. The first attraction is the Sunset Crater National Monument, only 12 miles north of Flagstaff. Here you can discover a 900-year-old volcano. Take a walk on a mile-long Lava Flow Trail. Finally, read the exhibits in the Visitor's Center to learn more about volcanoes.
The second stop is the Wupatki National Monument, beyond Sunset Crater, just 33 miles north of Flagstaff. Here you can discover the ruins of an 800-year-old pueblo. There is also a Visitor's Center to educate you and your family about the lifestyles lived in this historical settlement. This site also provides trails to nearby pueblos. One important aspect of this visit is to understand how people from many centuries ago survived in the unique desert climate.
After walking your socks off at these amazing national monuments, spend some quality time in Flagstaff. Enjoy a huge variety of shopping and dining experiences.
