Use this Lake Powell distance guide to compare approximate driving mileage from major cities, national parks and Southwest destinations to the lake's southern and northern recreation areas. Wahweap Marina near Page, Arizona is the most convenient Lake Powell destination for travelers approaching from Arizona, Nevada and southern Utah, while Bullfrog and Halls Crossing serve the more remote northern portion of the reservoir in Utah.

Driving distances around Lake Powell can be surprisingly long because the reservoir stretches through rugged canyon country with few direct roads. Choose your destination before beginning the trip, especially if you are towing a boat or RV. For detailed routing, see the Lake Powell Map & Directions.

Page Arizona & Wahweap Marina

Page, Arizona is the primary gateway for southern Lake Powell. Wahweap is only a short drive from Page, making it the most convenient Lake Powell marina area for visitors who also want easy access to hotels, restaurants, groceries and attractions such as Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon and Glen Canyon Dam.

Wahweap Marina is approximately 5.5 miles by road from Glen Canyon Dam along Lakeshore Drive and roughly 7 miles from the Page area depending on the starting point. Visitors towing boats should check current Lake Powell launch-ramp conditions before leaving home.

Bullfrog & Halls Crossing

Bullfrog and Halls Crossing serve northern Lake Powell in Utah and are located directly across the reservoir from one another. Although they are relatively close by water, reaching either location by road requires long drives through remote southern Utah.

Bullfrog is reached from Utah Highway 276 approximately 67 miles south of Hanksville. Halls Crossing is also on Highway 276 and is approximately 87 miles west of Blanding by way of Utah Highway 95. Current Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas operations have shifted many boating and rental services formerly based at Bullfrog to Halls Crossing, so travelers should confirm which side of the lake they actually need before beginning the drive.

Lake Powell Distance & Travel Planning Tips

  • Choose your exact marina or recreation area before calculating the trip because Lake Powell access points are widely separated.
  • Do not assume Bullfrog and Halls Crossing are interchangeable by road simply because they are directly across the lake from one another.
  • Check current launch-ramp conditions if towing a boat because Lake Powell water levels affect ramp availability.
  • Allow additional travel time when towing a boat, houseboat or RV through northern Arizona and southern Utah.
  • Carry adequate fuel and supplies when traveling to remote northern Lake Powell recreation areas.
  • Use current highway information along with GPS because some navigation systems may suggest remote or unpaved routes.
  • Remember that Arizona and Utah observe daylight saving time differently during much of the year, which can affect schedules near the state line.
